No News Is Good News, Right?

Im not so sure that's the case when you're 38 weeks pregnant and counting! But the sad truth is that I have nothing new to share lately. At my doctor's appointment on Monday I was still dilated to 3cm. The tummy is still growing so I guess that means baby is still growing-that's a good thing I supppose. 3cm is still more than I was at this point with Luke, I guess it's just disappointing to not have anything new to tell. On the other hand, it looks like I will probably make it to October which will be nice because we have so many September birthdays in our family. Also, Im feeling a lot better now than I was 2 weeks ago. Not having the aches and pains as much and Im sleeping a lot better.

I have been getting out all the baby equipment this week. I set up the swing, put the bouncy seat together and set up the pac-n-play with the bassinet in our room. I've got most of the washing done and the infant carseat all strapped in the car. Meanwhile, Luke and I talk about baby Cole a lot. I showed him pictures of himself when he was a newborn and told him that Cole will look a lot like that since they are brothers. We talked about how tiny he will be and that he will sleep and cry a lot at first. He seems pretty excited about it all right now. The other day at lunch, Luke pulled his shirt up and started putting chips on his tummy saying "Here you go. You want some chips?" I asked him what he was doing and he said "I'm feeding baby Cole some chips." I said "Baby Cole is in my tummy, that's why it's so big!" To which Luke replied " No, he's MY brother!" We are big in the 'Mine' phase right now!

Hopefully, the next post will be a little more exciting. For now, we'll just keep waiting patiently. I am enjoying my last few days of (mostly) uninterrupted sleep.

Progress

Yesterday I had my 35 week check-up with my doctor. She checked me and said that I am already dialated to 3cm! I had been feeling quite a bit of discomfort the week before so it may have been because of that. She also said that I am about 50% effaced and that the baby is at a -2 station, though she said these two things dont really mean that much if its not your first baby. She told me she felt the baby's head and right when she said that I felt him move! She said as soon as she touched his head he popped back up away from her! I asked her if I should maybe expect him to come early and she said "no, you could easily stay here for weeks". Im still a little skeptical though. With Luke I progressed steadily each week, dialating to a 3 at 39 weeks and then I was at the hospital in labor at 40 weeks. So, Im not going to expect him early but I am preparing myself- just in case! She said everything else looked great. Im feeling ok except that Im not sleeping that well. My back seems to hurt every night, no matter what position I try. My blood pressure is still very low- 90/50 so I guess Im handling the stress ok! Im due back next Monday so I will update more then.

Ahh, That Old Familiar Feeling

Now, you may think Im referring to the feeling of being so close to the end of my pregnancy. But you would be wrong- this time around feels completely different! No, the familiar feeling Im talking about is a pleasant Sunday afternoon watching my Cowboys stomp the pants off their opponent! That's right, football season has officially begun and I couldn't be more excited. I love everything about football season from just looking forward to the game after church to actually watching the game to even reading the articles afterward. I know, its a little pathetic. The only unfortunate thing is that Will has absolutely no interest in football what so ever. Im not sure how I forgot to leave that out of the list of requirements for marrying me! So to compensate, I am doing my best to get Luke to love it as much as I do. Today I dressed him in his #9 Tony Romo jersey that my sister gave him and together we watched the second half of the game. He missed the 1st because he was napping. He cheers along with me and yells "Touchdown!" , "Go Cowboys" and "Yea Romo!". Im hopeful that someday soon I will have someone to get just as excited as me every Sunday from September to January!
